Our Produce

GROWING THE BEST QUALITY, FARM FRESH PRODUCE AVAILABLE IN BOTSWANA

How many days ago was the produce in your grocery store picked?  How many kilometers has it traveled? How many times was it handled?  What chemicals and pesticides were used?  Were the seeds genetically modified?

At Go Fresh! we can answer these questions: 0 (this morning), 30km or less, once, only as necessary, no!

By the time most produce arrives at your supermarket, it has already traveled many kilometers and has been handled multiple times, causing damage and spoilage.  It is often trucked from a farm, or flown in to the Johannesburg produce market, where it is then trucked to a grocery chain distribution center, unloaded, put back on another truck, transported across the border to another distribution center in Botswana, then finally to your local supermarket shelf.

Did you ever wonder why your lettuce goes bad 2-3 days after your buy it? Or why your tomatoes were picked before they were ripe? How much of the price you pay covers transport costs from a neighboring country such as South Africa?
